Hijack Flight 375 VASP movie trailer STAR Brazil

Produced by Star Distribution Brasil, as part of the Disney studios, the trailer was released today (31) that addresses the hijacking of airline flight 375 VASP, operated by a Boeing 737-300 with prefix PP-SNT in 1988. The film is scheduled to premiere on December 7th.

Based on real facts, The VASP flight 375 hijacking film recalls the tense moments on September 29, 1988. The VASP 737 departed from Confins International Airport, in Minas Gerais, bound for Rio de Janeiro. On board were 103 engers including Raimundo Nonato Alves da Conceição, the hijacker.

Raimundo Nonato at the time was 28 years old and was born in Maranhão. At the time, he had lost his job at a construction company due to the economic crisis the country was facing, and he blamed then-president José Sarney.

Because of the embarrassing situation. Nonato boarded VASP Flight 375 aboard a Boeing 737 armed and determined to carry out an attack against President José Sarney in Brasilia, with the Planalto Palace as its target.

Raimundo Nonato tried to go to the cabin after takeoff and began to threaten everyone present on the flight with a gun. A flight attendant was grazed by a bullet after trying to contain Raimundo.

Immediately and with little time, the commander sent an alert to the controllers warning of the hijacking. The co-pilot who was trying to answer the call of controllers in Brasilia was shot in the back of the head, dying instantly.

The VASP commander managed to land the Boeing 737 in Goiânia, which immediately after landing was surrounded by police who managed to reach the hijacker, dying on the spot. 

This was the first case of hijacking with victims on board an aircraft in Brazil.
