China Southern orders 80 Boeing 737NG/MAX aircraft

China Southern Airlines has signed a purchase contract for 80 Boeing 737s, of which 30 will be NG and 50 new generation MAX, for a total value of US$8,4 billion.

“China Southern's commitment is a solid demonstration of the popularity of the 737NG and 737 MAX. We have a long-standing partnership with China Southern and are excited to see the 737 play an important role in Southern's success," said Boeing Vice President of North Asia Sales Ihssane Mounir.

China Southern has more than 600 aircraft in its fleet, including Boeing 787, 777, 757 and 737, Airbus includes the A380, 330, 321, 320 and 319.

On December 16, China Southern Airlines also started a three-times-weekly Boeing 787-8 flight en route from Guangzhou to Christchurch in the South Island of New Zealand. The outward flight, CZ617, departs Guangzhou at 00.50h on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, arriving in Christchurch at 17.10h. The return flight, CZ618, takes off from Christchurch at 22.30h and is back in Guangzhou at 05.30h the next day.
