the chinese jet Comac C919 is getting closer to certification, the expectation is that the new commercial aircraft will be certified to operate flights by the end of 2021. The new Chinese jet will enter into direct competition with the monopoly of the Airbus A320 and Boeing 737.
Previously, the Comac C919 certification forecast would be for this year 2021, but due to the crisis in the sector due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the plans were postponed. Even having postponed certification, the project did not suffer major losses and was able to put the certification process back on track.
At the end of 2020, the Comac C919 received the first Type Inspection Authorization granted by the Shanghai Aircraft Certification Center in China. This authorization allowed the new plane to carry out official test flights in operational certification.
If certification goes ahead as planned by the end of the year, the first delivery of the Comac C919 will also take place this year. Three of China's largest airlines will operate the new jet, some 28 airlines have ordered 815 new planes.
