The Chinese manufacturer COMAC delivered an ARJ21 aircraft for the first time to a customer outside of China. Indonesia's TransNusa was the first company to receive the Chinese plane outside national territory.
The ARJ21-700, registration PK-TJA, was the first aircraft in an order for 30 jets from COMAC. The first plane should have been delivered in 2021, but due to the pandemic and travel restrictions, the company had to ground almost its entire fleet and reduce flights.
TransNusa has reached an agreement to lease the 30 new Chinese jets with China Aircraft Leasing Group Holdings (CALC), with the first delivery now taking place at the end of 2022, the rest expected to be delivered by 2026.
TransNusa Indonesia's new ARJ21-700 is configured to carry up to 95 engers in a single class. The new plane is equipped with General Electric CF-34 engines.
