as already we publish here on Aeroflap, the USAF intends to extend the service life of the classic B-52 bomber.

But for that to happen, a complete modernization of the aircraft is necessary, and that includes systems, avionics and among that, the engines will also be changed and with that replace the old TF-33 that currently equip the bomber.

In order to make it possible to modernize the engines, three companies are in competition to supply the engines, they are General Electric, Pratt & Whitney and Rolls-Royce.

The English Rolls-Royce even completed the tests with the F-130 engine, which could equip the B-52.

Jeff Martin, associate multimedia editor and producer of the Defense News Week website, interviewed representatives of the companies that are in the dispute and they spoke a little more about the new engines. In this link below you can see this interview.

The USAF 'rescued' from the desert a B-52 that was in storage, for nearly three decades and is putting several aircraft back into service.

We believe that this reactivation is part of prolonging the life of these classic bombers, which, despite being old, still represent a great strategic value for the USAF.
