The Edge Group, from the United Arab Emirates, through its subsidiary HALCON, entered into a partnership with Embraer to integrate advanced weapons into the A-29 Super Tucano. The cooperation was signed on 15/11 during the Dubai Airshow.
HALCON develops non-propelled precision guidance kit systems that incorporate aerodynamic tail controls. Such kits provide range and accuracy for standard NATO warheads in the Mk.81 and Mk.82 bombs, weighing 250 and 500 pounds respectively, as well as warheads designed for the Desert Sting series from 5 kg to 25 kg.
“This initiative represents another milestone for EDGE as we look to partner with leading companies around the world and expand the reach and use of our products and services internationally”, commented His Excellency Faisal Al Bannai, CEO and Executive Director of EDGE.

“Embraer's intention to work closely with HALCON in the development of weapons systems for the A-29 Super Tucano reflects the confidence placed in the UAE company's ability to deliver on what was agreed and highlights HALCON's position as a weapons manufacturer and preferred supplier internationally.”
The President and CEO of Embraer Defense and Security, Jackson Schneider commented: “The A-29 Super Tucano is known worldwide for its light attack, training and ISR capabilities, and Embraer is pleased to collaborate with the UAE's EDGE Group to provide current and future A-29 operators with even more operational precision and flexibility through the addition of HALCON weapon systems to the aircraft's weapons portfolio.”
Saeed Al Mansoori, CEO of HALCON, said: “HALCON is an embodiment of EDGE and the UAE's ambition to export knowledge and expertise internationally, while establishing strong partnerships and working with pace and agility.”
“This initiative aims to cooperate with Embraer on a disruptive development case that we believe will bring significant benefits to both companies and define a plan for future bilateral interactions for other entities. EDGE”, concludes the subsidiary's executive.
