The new Delta FlyReady tool assists customers in scheduling a COVID-19 test, automatically verifies the results and confirms that the traveler meets the testing requirements in place at the destination they are traveling to.
Customers of the Delta traveling between the United States and the United Kingdom this Northern Hemisphere summer will be among the first to use the Delta FlyReady, a new digital health credential solution that will help take the guesswork out of health requirements for international travel.
The tool will initially help manage testing requirements, but Delta will integrate vaccination credentials into Delta FlyReady at the end of the boreal peak season, great news for those traveling to eligible destinations under the new system who require proof of immunization to enable the entry of tourists.
The company began testing the new solution at the end of April on flights between the international airports of Hartsfield-Jackson, in Atlanta, and Heathrow, in London.
Delta FlyReady assists customers in scheduling a COVID-19 test in line with destination requirements, automatically verifies their result and confirms that the traveler meets the testing requirements in place where they are traveling.
Em Partnership with Virgin Atlantic Airways, engers traveling on flights operated by Delta or the British airline will be able to use the tool starting this summer.
“Early in the pandemic, we realized that our customers would need to find a way to educate themselves about the complex requirements of post-COVID international travel, so we began working with our Virgin Atlantic partners to develop this solution,” said Executive Vice President of Customer Experience, Allison Ausband.
"We're committed to making travel an enjoyable experience that everyone can enjoy, and Delta FlyReady is an easy-to-use, reliable and effective system that takes the guesswork out of it for our customers and employees."
Virgin Atlantic plans to start experimenting with the solution, adapted as Virgin Atlantic FlyReady, on flights operated by Virgin Atlantic between London-Heathrow and US cities later this month. engers eligible to use the tool during testing will be ed prior to travel and provided with further information on how to participate.
“Virgin Atlantic FlyReady and Delta FlyReady will help build customer confidence as they get back to flying, making their transatlantic travel as smooth and seamless as possible while navigating new COVID-19 travel requirements in a convenient digital format. ”, said Virgin Atlantic's Executive Director of Customers & Operations, Corneel Koster.
“Our commitment is to ensure that every person flies safe and well, and we are pleased to be working closely with our partners at Delta Air Lines and TrustAssureTM to launch this innovative integrated solution, which will evolve to also include vaccination status.” .
As of June 17, 2021, the United States remained on the United Kingdom's Amber List, part of the European region's phased plan to authorize the reopening of international travel this season.
The two airlines continue to encourage both governments to allow UK residents and citizens to enter the United States, as well as moving the United States to the UK Green List, fully reopening this transatlantic corridor.
As these debates continue, Delta and Virgin Atlantic are putting the technology to work, which will serve as a blueprint for the return of international travel more widely.
An easy to use experience to check entry requirements
Delta FlyReady is a new technology solution built on trusted health standards to digitally test documents required for travel on Delta and Virgin Atlantic flights.
Here's an overview of how the experience works for eligible customers:
- The traveler books the flight and checks his e-mail. As the solution is integrated directly into Delta's systems, there is no need to an additional app: eligible customers can access Delta FlyReady via a link found in your e-mail with pre-flight information or in the My Trips section of delta.com prior to departure.
- Schedule the COVID-19 test up to three days before departure. In partnership with TrustAssure, Delta will provide verified COVID-19 testing locations close to the customer, offering the option to book a test with a few clicks. After having done so, the person will receive a e-mail from TrustAssure confirming your Delta FlyReady status or notifying you of additional actions required.
- Does the customer already have results from another test provider? No problems. If the exam was done through another provider, the enger just needs to use the option “do test result” to have a digital copy or photo of your results. This needs to be taken care of prior to arrival at the airport, and once verified, you can enjoy the time savings afforded by Delta FlyReady status.
- Realization of check-in usually before the trip. Now the traveler has nothing to worry about as Delta has automatically linked Delta FlyReady status to the flight itinerary and the customer is ready to travel.
Delta FlyReady offers benefits to Delta employees as well. Over time, the solution will limit the amount of paperwork involved in ing a customer's Delta FlyReady status. Airport agents will see a digital indicator to prove that the traveler has met the necessary requirements, reducing the risk of being denied boarding.
All enger health data associated with Delta FlyReady is encrypted. Nothing is stored on Delta's systems. The company only receives a digital indicator showing that the person has met the applicable legal requirements.
The new tool is one of many ways the airline is making it easier to get back to travel as countries reopen. While the current focus is on resuming travel between the United States and the United Kingdom, Delta expects to expand Delta FlyReady's availability to other routes as more international destinations return to tourists later this summer.
Today, customers can access travel requirements and detailed COVID testing address information on delta.com through the new Delta Discover map and Travel Planning Center.
