Delta opens first phase of its dedicated terminal at Los Angeles Airport

Delta Air Lines and Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) announced the completion of the first major phase of Delta Sky Way, the company's new terminal at Los Angeles Airport (LAX), the result of a t investment of $2,3 billion (including direct investments from LAWA and Delta) to modernize and upgrade one of the main hubs company global.

This first stage of the multi-year terminal transformation project kicks off Delta's decade-long $12 billion investment in hubs from coast to coast of the United States, consolidating the company's commitment to transform the travel experience in the air and on the ground.   

When the Delta Sky Way project at LAX is completed in 2023, Terminals 2 and 3 will be a state-of-the-art consolidated complex spanning just over 111 square meters and 27 gates. It will provide easy customer transit and connect Terminals 2 and 3 to the Tom Bradley International Terminal (Terminal B), allowing quick connections to both Delta's own flights and those operated by Delta's partners.

 The area of check-in and baggage dispatch has a digital wall in the background which, measuring 76,2 meters in length, extends along the entire length of the installation, presenting information on flights in English and Spanish, as well as on movement in the Sky club (Delta VIP lounge) and boarding.

 Thanks to Delta's partnership with the Transportation Security istration (TSA), eligible customers departing from LAX can choose to use the latest facial recognition technology to check bags hands-free via the use of your digital identity (consisting of the hip number Sky Miles number, port number and Known Traveler Number). Seven queues for security procedures will be open to travelers when the facility officially opens on April 20, and all 14 checkpoints are expected to be fully operational by the end of the Northern Hemisphere summer.

In addition to the headquarters, a Delta Sky Club completely renovated at LAX will open to engers this month and will be one of the largest in Delta's system. With 9.144 meters of space, the lounge includes an indoor/outdoor double bar, a Sky Deck outdoor seating that will be open year-round and vigorous showers, among other amenities for guests to relax and recharge before, during or after their travels.
