Dourados Airport: Commander of the Engineering Group visits expansion works

On January 25th, the Commander of the 3rd Engineering Group (3rd Gpt E), Colonel Luís Cláudio Brion Cardoso, visited Operation Dourados, a cooperation work carried out by the 9th Construction Engineering Battalion (9th BEC) whose scope is to restoration and expansion of the regional airport of Dourados-MS.

Colonel Brion accompanied the excavation, loading, transport and compaction engineering works; activities carried out at the construction site; technological control; and the logistical situation of the operation.

Between the 7th and the 13th of January, the 9th Construction Engineering Battalion (9th BEC) took advantage of all available time to increase productivity in the Dourados Operation, a cooperation work carried out under the coordination of the 3rd Engineering Group, which has as its scope the expansion and restoration of the Regional Airport of Dourados-MS.

Cleaning services for the vegetation layer were carried out on prepared strips of the landing and take-off runway; excavation, loading, transport, maneuvering and unloading of material; and hydroseeding.

In all, R$ 15.196.212,11 will be invested and a partnership with the Brazilian Army, which initiated the actions, through the 9th Construction Engineering Battalion, together with SAC (Secretary of Civil Aviation), State Government and Prefecture of Dourados.

With the restructuring, the runway will be 1.775 meters long, with completion scheduled for September 2022. Increasing the runway width is essential for the airport to change its category and be able to handle flights on rainy or windy days.

A new boarding terminal will be built, about three times larger than the current one, a new EPTA room (Telecommunications and Air Traffic Service Provider Station) and a new fire-fighting section, where the Corps of Firefighters.
