Ed Force One - Iron Maiden plane crashes in Chile

img_5817.jpg The accident took place this Saturday at the Comodoro Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport in Santiago, capital of Chile. The plane was being towed for refueling before the flight to Cordoba, while the pin, a part of the mechanism that connects the aircraft with the tractor, broke. When making a turn, the aircraft without direction, collided with the tug.

After this collision, the aircraft's landing gear and two engines were damaged. The Ed Force One, piloted by the lead singer of the English band, Bruce Dickinson, will remain at the airport until the respective repairs are completed.
Flight engineers are on site assessing the damage, but the initial report is that the engines have sustained extensive damage and will require a long period of maintenance and possibly two new engines.

Through a statement, the General Directorate of Civil Aviation -DGAC- confirmed that "the aircraft was not carrying engers", adding that "two operators were injured, but were immediately taken to the airport's Emergency Service Center."
In addition there will be an investigation by the Department of Accident Prevention.

The band Iron Maiden assures the fans that they will continue the Tour without any delay in the next leg in Córdoba.
