On September 12, Azul Linhas Aéreas received the PR-PJN, the newest and most modern aircraft in its fleet. With the intention of replacing the well-known 1st generation E-Jets, the new aircraft arrived in the fleet, greatly reducing the cost per transported enger.
The delivery and presentation of the aircraft took place on September 12, at Embraer's facilities in São José dos Campos (SP). In addition to the press, the two Brazilian companies took the opportunity to hold a big celebration for guests during the evening, which you can check out at video below.
As it could not be missing, Azul equipped its new aircraft with a special painting. The registration of the E195-E2 (PR-PJN) also bears a tribute in the initials to the first president of the airline, Pedro Janot.
The colors of the special painting cover the entire fuselage in a dark blue tone, and the rear part is coated with words that describe Azul's goals. Internally, the company calls this painting “I am Blue”.
The 136 seats in economy class are different from the first E195-E1, but the 2-2 distribution continues, a characteristic of the fuselage of Embraer's E-Jets. Compared to a 195st generation E1, which is 38,65 meters long, the new E195-E2 is 41,5 meters long, and has 7 meters more wingspan (wing).
The aircraft officially entered into operation in October 2019, shortly after a flight with a guest and press between Viracopos (Campinas) and Brasília.

Over the following months, and even during the pandemic, Azul continued to receive more E195-E2 aircraft. The company stopped deliveries of its new aircraft, due to the impacts of the crisis, and plans to return to routinely receiving these aircraft only from 2024.
With a total order for 75 E195-E2 aircraft, Azul has so far received nine aircraft of this model, some with special liveries that you can check out Clicking here.

The performance targets of the E195-E2 were to be similar to those of the E195, but with more payload (addition of 12 engers). The results, however, show significant improvements in many aspects, implemented in the aircraft design process.
“More than 500 of our 870 daily flights are still operated by the first generation [of E-jets]. In the future, they will all be performed by E2, resulting in a 14% lower cost and 10% more revenue on each flight.”, said David Neeleman, one of the founders of Azul, during an interview at the time of delivery.
“An example of the economy of the E2, we take off from Brasilia through 5 to 6 flights a day, with the E195-E1, in the new generation we maintain the same amount spent for these flights but we can jump to 8 daily flights”, said John Rodgerson, President of Azul.
Maximum range is 2600 nautical miles (4800 km) with full enger load, 600 nautical miles more than the E195-E1.
