Today Embraer received several orders for its new generation aircraft, the Ejet E2, during the Farnborough Air Show.
The first airline that showed interest was Kalstar Aviation, from Indonesia, which signed a contract for 10 E190-E2 jets, which also includes the purchase right for 5 aircraft, the total value set by Embraer is US$ 582 million, from list price. The transaction will be included in Embraer's third quarter 2016 backlog. Deliveries to Kalstar are scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2020.
Established in 2007, Kalstar Aviation, named after 'Kalimantan Star', has been flying engers to cities in Kalimantan province, an area known for mining and agriculture. The airline currently operates one E190 and two E195 on domestic routes in Indonesia.
“We are looking forward to the improved operational performance that the E190-E2 will bring while maintaining a high level of cabin commonality with current E-Jets. This means an easy transition for our pilots when operating both the current generation E-Jets and E-Jets E2,” said Andi Masyhur, CEO of Kalstar Aviation. “enger has been very positive about the E-Jets we currently operate and we look forward to impressing them even more with the new E190-E2s in the coming years.”
Israel's Arkia Israeli Airlines has also signed an agreement for six E195-E2 aircraft, the order consisting of six firm orders and four purchase rights. The total value of the contract is approximately US$650 million. Arkia will configure all E195-E2s in a comfortable single-class layout with 134 seats. The airline currently operates four aircraft of the current generation of E-Jets, two E190 and two E195.
“With best-in-class economics, the E195-E2 will be the perfect addition to our fleet,” said Nir Dagan, President & CEO of Arkia Israeli Airlines. “The E195-E2's range of 2.450 nautical miles will allow Arkia to cover all of its destinations in Europe and launch new ones across the continent. In addition to the range, the E2 maintains the same unrivaled level of cabin comfort, which is much appreciated by our engers.”
Embraer has not announced the delivery date for the Arkia Israeli E195-E2.
With these orders, the new backlog of the E-JetsE2 is 278 firm orders plus 392 Letters of Intent (LOI), options and purchase rights, and a total of 660 commitments from airlines and leasing companies.
