In addition to SAAB taking advantage of the business climate to promote the Gripen NG, Embraer, through its Chief Executive, Paulo Cesar Silva, took the opportunity to report some details about the Ejet E2 program.
According to Paulo, the Embraer Ejet E2 test fleet will have 6 aircraft, 4 of them the E190-E2 variant and two aircraft of the E195-E2 variant, which is the largest enger aircraft to be offered by Embraer at the moment. He further added that the two E195-E2 aircraft will be ready for testing in 2016 and 3 E190-E2 will be available in the same year, the fourth E190-E2 for testing would be for the year 2016.
Embraer recently released photos on its facebook page showing the fuselage of its Ejet E190-E2 aircraft completed and painted, but Paulo gave more details about the program's first test aircraft, "The Iron Bird Ejet E190-E2 is already fully ready and we are waiting for the testing process”. There is no provision for a number of E175-E2 aircraft for the test fleet.
The aircraft, which bears the registration number PR-zey, was shown, with its fuselage and wing assembled. Painted in Embraer's color standards, blue, yellow and dark gray, the aircraft was without its Pratt & Whitney PW1900G engine, which is already on its way to São José dos Campos, as announced today by Pratt & Whitney. The vertical stabilizer also needs to be mounted on the fuselage, but it is already ready and painted.
“We are confident of the EJets E2. Our experience with the E-Jets will allow us to improve the product even further,” says Paulo. Embraer's forecast of 220 aircraft for the Middle East is being implemented little by little, with a total of 2 orders for the Ejet E58 coming from 9 customers in the region.
