Over time in the market, Embraer has consolidated itself as the 3rd largest aircraft manufacturer, and the company's long experience, combined with a good quality product, has made the Brazilian company successful in several countries.

But which airlines operate the most Embraer aircraft in the world?

Let's check it out below:

  1. Skywest – As we know, the US has specific legislation to encourage regional flights. Right at this point, Embraer benefits. Skywest is one of the largest in the US, providing outsourced service to United, Delta and American Airlines. There are 156 Embraer planes, all of the E175 model. The company still has an order for 20 E175 aircraft.
  2. Continuing in the line of regional aircraft, we now have Republic Airlines, which should soon displace Skywest as Embraer's biggest customer. The company currently operates with 117 Embraer aircraft, but has an order for another 217 aircraft.
  3. After Republic Airlines, the third largest operator of Embraer aircraft is ExpressJetAirlines (United Express) which has 98 ERJ-145 aircraft. That's right, the former ERJ that saved the Brazilian company in the 90s.

After this hegemony of North American regional companies, we still have JetBlue, another American, with 64 Embraer E190 aircraft in its fleet.

The ranking is also made up of Piedmont Airlines, which has 60 ERJ aircraft, followed by the Brazilian Azul, with 59 E190/E195 aircraft in its name and another 75 orders for the E195-E2, followed by Envoy Air, which has 58 aircraft of the ERJ line.

We still have the Chinese Hainan Airlines, with 50 E-Jet aircraft, Aeromexico with 47 E-Jet and ERJ aircraft, and Air Canada with 45 E-Jet aircraft to its name (although I don't use them all, like Azul).

In the middle of this list above, it is still worth including KLM Cityhopper, KLM's regional arm, which operates with 49 Embraer E175 and E190 aircraft, and has a firm order for another 21 E195-E2 aircraft.

In all, Embraer has already delivered 1579 E170/175/190/195 aircraft worldwide, and currently s the operation of over 546 ERJ 135/140/145 aircraft.

The most successful variant is the E175, with 595 units already manufactured, logically due to regional aviation incentives in the USA.

Meanwhile, Embraer has already manufactured 495 E190 aircraft, and 422 ERJ-145 aircraft (many of which are still operating. Both the E170 and E195 had 160 aircraft in operation at the end of 2019.

Serial production of the Bandeirante in the 70's. This hangar still exists today, where the assembly of the Legacy line is carried out.

Amazingly, there are still 42 Embraer EMB-110 Bandeirante aircraft in operation, according to the manufacturer. This was the first aircraft launched by Embraer, at the turn of the 60's to the 70's, more than 50 years ago.
