Embraer announced today (24th), during a visit to Portugal by the President of the Republic of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, the g of a Memorandum of Understanding with the country's aerospace companies, in an event attended by the Prime Minister of Portugal, Antonio Costa.
The memorandum was signed with the companies: Center for Engineering and Product Development (CEiiA), Empordef Tecnologias de Informação, SA (ETI), GMVIS Skysoft, SA (GMV) and OGMA SA
“It is a great satisfaction to celebrate a new stage in the relationship between Embraer and the Portuguese State, through the Defense Industry of Portugal, for us a reference in cooperation in aerospace and defense projects. The results of the KC-390 Millennium strategic partnership have shown the potential that governments and companies from both countries, working together, can achieve”, said Francisco Gomes Neto, President and CEO of Embraer.

The main objective of the memorandum is the development of the Technological and Industrial Defense Base of Portugal, reinforcing its capacity to carry out engineering, research and development activities. Thus, Embraer reinforces its long-term strategic commitment to Portugal in the development of its aerospace and defense ecosystem.
Among the different developments of the memorandum, the potential strategic relationship in the areas of development and systems integration involving the A-29 Super Tucano, in its recently launched A-29N version, aimed at meeting the needs of the member countries of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
Included in this context are research, technological development and innovation processes, with the aim of expanding and increasing long-term commercial relationships between the companies during the development, production and phases for the operation of the A-29N aircraft.
“Today, with the g of this memorandum of understanding, we take another important step in the continuous development of technologies related to the A-29 Super Tucano. The interest of NATO countries in this aircraft led Embraer to announce, recently, the launch of a new version, the A-29N, which, we are sure, will be a success in the international market”, said Bosco da Costa Junior, President and CEO of Embraer Defense & Security.
