Emirates has implemented Phase 1 of its main scope, which assesses flight operations, corporate activities, as well as a module related to illegal wildlife trade, reinforcing its long-standing environmental commitment to preserving wildlife and habitats.

Emirates is a global leader in the fight against illegal wildlife trafficking and exploitation, aiming to protect the beauty and biodiversity of the natural world to inspire travel now and for future generations. The airline is a signatory and founder of the Buckingham Palace Declaration and a member of the United for Wildlife Transport Taskforce, organized by The Royal Foundation.

Emirates SkyCargo, the cargo transportation division of Emirates, has a zero-tolerance policy towards illegal wildlife trade and a complete ban on hunting trophies for the Big-4 (four large animal species: elephant, buffalo, lion and leopard). In addition to Emirates SkyCargo employees, wildlife awareness training has also been extended to enger services employees, including cabin crew, Emirates airport services personnel and Emirates Group security staff. IEnvA Illegal Wildlife Trade certification reinforces the entire company's commitment to implementing initiatives.

Earlier this year, Emirates dedicated $200 million to research and development projects focused on reducing the impact of fossil fuels on commercial aviation. The value will be delivered over three years and represents one of the largest single commitments of any airline in the area of sustainability. By identifying partnerships with leading organizations, Emirates helps find innovative solutions to the industry's most pressing challenges.
