The newest fighter of the Brazilian Air Force (FAB), the Saab F-39 Gripen, could be one of the attractions of Air Sunday at the Air Force Academy (AFA), one of the most traditional events of its kind in the country, which takes place on the 21st.
The presence of the Swedish origin fighter is not yet confirmed, but it is possible that the aircraft will be seen in overflights by the AFA during the event. One Azul's E195 jet will also be at the air show at the military base in Pirassununga, in the interior of SP.
If this actually happens, it will be Gripen's first participation in an event open to the public. The first plane arrived in the country in 2020, while the two newest were received by the FAB in April of this year. The FAB expects to receive four more F-39 Gripen by the end of 2022.

This week's Air Sunday is the first since 2019. The 2020 and 2021 editions did not take place due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Among the confirmed attractions are the KC-390 Millennium freighter, the demonstration team Halcones of the Chilean Air Force, the FAB Smoke Squadron, the A-4KU (AF-1) Skyhawk attack jet of the Brazilian Navy, the civil Fox and the AFA T-27M Tucano.
