This Sunday (14) ended Operation Anti-Aircraft Shield, coordinated by the Aerospace Operations Command (COMAE), in the context of the t Exercise Tínia, carried out by the Brazilian Air Force (FAB).
With the focus on training the country's anti-aircraft weapons in a simulated war scenario, Operation Shield took place from the Santa Maria Air Force Base (BASM), in Rio Grande do Sul, and had the participation of around 400 military personnel from the three Armed Forces. Armed.
While in the sky, aircraft demonstrated their operability in aerial combat and carried out missions to neutralize enemy forces; On the ground, Infantry Units maintained the sovereignty of the nation with their maneuvers.
For this, several anti-aircraft artillery fractions were used in training, on land in the cities of Santana da Boa Vista (RS) and Caçapava do Sul (RS).
The Head of COMAE's Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Office and one of the coordinators of Operation Anti-Aircraft Shield, Major Henrique Moraes Furtado, from COMAE's Operational Office, highlighted the differential of this edition of the training.

“This is the first time that we are bringing Operation Shield into the context of Exercise Tínia, where conventional war training takes place with a large saturation of aircraft flying. So we brought Operation Shield into this arena in a way that increases the difficulty and level of realism.” scored.
The Commander of the FAB's First Anti-Aircraft Defense Group (1st GDAAE), Lieutenant Colonel Pedro Antonio Garcez, told how the Armed Forces acted in the activity. “We work with so-called field fire units. The Navy using the Mistral Missile, and the Anti-Aircraft Defense groups using the IGLA-S missile, distributed on the ground in order to provide anti-aircraft defense against threats”, summed up.

From one of the shooting units, the Commander of the Army's First Anti-Aircraft Artillery Group, Lieutenant-Colonel Anderson das Chagas Pedro, explained how the defense mission is carried out in the simulated war. “Our RBS-70 missiles that make up the firing units are linked to the Anti-Aircraft Operations Center. We received the early warning from COMAE exactly so that we know which shooting units will be able to engage that enemy target”, said.
Responsible for ensuring all the necessary infrastructure to carry out the maneuvers, the Campaign Logistic Group (GALC) was another important element in the Operation.
“We are offering food, hygiene, health and communications services to operational troops, so that all operational personnel can carry out their duties as efficiently as possible”, informed the Commander of the Mobile Echelon in Operation Escudo, Major Thiago Silva dos Santos.
