A C-130 Hércules aircraft, operated by the First Squadron of the First Transport Group (1st/1st GT), Fat Squadron, performed on January 8th and 10th, a Logistics Air Transport mission in of Operation COVID-19.
On Friday (8), the plane took off from Wing 9, in Belém, at 18:20 pm (Brasília time), and landed at Wing 8, in Manaus, at 20:55 pm. On Sunday (10), it took off at 12:55 pm and landed at 15:30 pm, making the same route. 24,5 tons of oxygen cylinders were transported. The equipment will be used in hospitals in Manaus, in the care of COVID-19 patients.
The Commander of the FAB 2476 aircraft, Captain Aviator Rodrigo dos Santos Roeles, comments on his performance in the mission. “The demand is great to meet the needs of hospitals in Manaus and participating in this mission makes us happy to help our compatriots, bringing conditions and structure to assist in the fight against COVID”, highlights.

Operation COVID-19
Protecting citizens is one of the main functions of the Armed Forces. To this end, the Ministry of Defense, the Brazilian Navy, the Brazilian Army and the Brazilian Air Force are tly facing the COVID-19 pandemic in the country. The Operation takes place in a territorial space of large proportions, in the 27 federative units, with different characteristics and needs and with a population of around 210 million people.
Actions involve decontamination of public spaces, blood donations, transportation of medicines and health equipment, distribution of kits of food for low-income people, cleaning public places, donation of meals for truck drivers, among others.
In carrying out these activities, the military operates organized in ten t Commands that cover the entire national territory, as well as in the Aerospace Operations Command (COMAE). These Commands bring together soldiers from the three Forces, who make efforts to fulfill missions.
