FAB professionals forcing energy Rio Grande do Sul

The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) transported, this Tuesday morning (21/05), around 100 specialists in underground electricity networks, who will help reestablish the energy supply in Rio Grande do Sul. The aircraft KC- 30 departed from Galeão Air Base (BAGL), in Rio de Janeiro, at 11 am, heading to Canoas Air Base. The team is made up of engineers, field and safety technicians and electricians from two concessionaires operating in the state of Rio de Janeiro.

On the same flight, around 15 tons of supplies and medicines were taken, collected by FAB at BAGL, through the “Todos Unidos pelo Sul” campaign, to assist the population affected by heavy rains in the state of Rio Grande do Sul.

The boarding was accompanied by the Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira, who personally thanked the professionals involved in the mission. According to him, the objective is to reestablish, as soon as possible, around 500 kilometers of underground network in the Porto Alegre Metropolitan Region.

The Minister also highlighted the important of the FAB throughout Operation Taquari 2, which carries out rescue, transport and social assistance missions for the population of Rio Grande do Sul. “I was at the Canoas Base and I could see the entire Air Force contributing , not only with its equipment, with its aircraft and with its mobilization, but also with its soul, involved in the work of separating food, clothing, blankets... committed to minimizing the impacts of this tragedy that affected the entire country” , he stated.

The Brazilian Air Force's Todos Unidos Pelo Sul campaign has already collected more than 2,5 tons of donations in Rio de Janeiro. Donations are transported daily to Rio Grande do Sul, through four different modes.
