Embraer and the Brazilian Army (EB) signed two important contracts during the first day of FIDAE 2022 this Tuesday (05th): the acquisition of four more Saber M60 radars and the implementation of Phase 2 of the Integrated Border Monitoring System ( SISFRON), both strategic Army programs.
According to Embraer, the purchase of additional radars, all version 2.0, is foreseen in the Strategic Planning of the EB for 2022-2023 and expands the operational capacity of the ground force. The acquisition also reinforces the partnership between the manufacturer and the Army, in the continuous development, implementation and improvement of the Means of Military Employment (MEM).

Developed nationally by Embraer in partnership with the EB, the Saber M60 emerged from the need for a low-altitude anti-aircraft radar. The equipment is 100% domestic and went into operation in 2010. In 2019, Embraer completed updating the radars to version 2.0
The M60 has a range of 32 nautical miles and an altitude of 16.400 feet, employing 3D technology to detect and track 60 targets simultaneously. Compact and easily transportable, the Saber M60 can be assembled in just 15 minutes and is capable of being integrated into anti-aircraft missile or gun systems.
In addition to acquiring the radars, Embraer and EB signed the implementation of Phase 2 of SISFRON. The system, one of the largest surveillance projects on the planet, aims to protect national borders, covering an area of 16.886 km.
“The g of the Phase 2 contract represents an important recognition of the investments and work developed by Embraer in the Pilot Phase, making use of the company's main competences applied to terrestrial systems. We are sure that the continuity of the implementation with the next stage will allow retaining and expanding knowledge and critical technologies for the area of border surveillance and monitoring”, said Jackson Schneider, CEO of Embraer Defense & Security.
SISFRON implements a sensing and command and control (C2) structure to operational employment, acting in an integrated manner to strengthen the State's presence and monitoring capabilities and action on the land border.
“We are very pleased to sign the contract with Embraer, continuing the successful partnership, with relevant results already proven in the Pilot Phase, complementing the operational capabilities of the Western Military Command”, says Army General Guido Amin Naves, head of the EB's Department of Science and Technology.

“SISFRON has a high complexity and strategic nature, which is why it makes up the list of structuring projects of the Land Force in partnership with Embraer, in the role of integrator, allowing to provide the Army with capabilities to carry out its mission, in addition to enhancing the actions of other government entities in the border area.”
During FIDAE, which takes place from today until the 10th, Embraer will be promoting your product portfolio and innovative solutions for the defense and security markets.
The multi-mission aircraft KC-390 Millennium, from the Brazilian Air Force (FAB), and the light attack turboprop and advanced training A-29 Super Tucano, from the Chilean Air Force (FACh), will be on static display.
