The air effort in of Rio Grande do Sul continues to grow. Brazilian Navy, Federal Highway Police (PRF) and Paraná Military Police (PMPR) also sent their helicopters to help the state, which has been suffering from floods since Monday (30). Twenty-four people died and 21 are missing.
The valleys of the Caí, Pardo, Taquari and Jacuí rivers and the central and Serra Gaúcha regions are the areas most affected by the rains. According to Governor Eduardo Leite, this is the biggest natural disaster in the history of Rio Grande do Sul. Armed and public security forces in RS and other states have used several helicopters in search and rescue actions.
This Thursday (02), the Brazilian Navy confirmed which has two helicopters on standby, a UH-15 Super Cougar and a UH-12 Esquilo, but both are awaiting improvements in weather conditions to travel to the region. The UH-15 is in Florianópolis (SC) and the Esquilo in Rio Grande (RS); When it arrives, the UH-15 will be the largest helicopter used in the operation, alongside the Brazilian Air Force's H-60L Black Hawk.

Also this Thursday, an Aw-119 helicopter from the PRF's Air Operations Center (NOA) arrived in RS, landing in Santo Antônio da Patrulha. The aircraft, packed in Paraná, began its journey during the Labor Day holiday, but made several stops along the way, also due to the weather conditions. The PMPR, through the Air Operations Battalion (BPMOA), also ed the air to Rio Grande do Sul, deploying an EC-130B4 helicopter (Falcão 08).
Aircraft from the FAB and Brazilian Army, the military police of São Paulo, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul, the Gaúcha Civil Police and the RS Military Fire Department are already working in the relief effort, rescuing hundreds of people stranded by the floods.
