The Plenary of the Federal Senate must analyze this Tuesday the Bill (PL) 3.999/2021, which now renames Goiânia — Santa Genoveva International Airport as Iris Rezende Machado International Airport.
Authored by Senator Luiz do Carmo (MDB-GO), the project honors former Senator Íris Rezende, who died on November 9 of this year.
“His death, on November 9, 2021, bereaved not only his hometown, Cristianópolis, but also Goiânia and the entire state of Goiás, such was the goodwill and feeling of gratitude we had for him. At the age of 87, he left leaving us a legacy of political wisdom, ethics with regard to public affairs, loving kindness with regard to dealing with people, persistence with regard to party militancy”, explained Luiz do Carmo.
The project is reported by senator Vanderlan Cardoso (PSD-GO).
If approved, the PL still needs presidential approval for the airport name change to be carried out.
