A GOL Linhas Aéreas once again promotes the decentralization of its international flights, this time to favor its Customers in the North Region, particularly in Amazonas. This Saturday (17/12), in Manaus, GOL's newest route to Miami was inaugurated, through the inaugural non-stop round trip flights between Brazil and the United States.
The decentralization process began in May of this year, when GOL resumed its flights from Brasilia (BSB) to Orlando (MCO) and Miami (MIA), Florida. Earlier this month, the Company also reactivated its Fortaleza (FOR)-Miami (MIA) route. Both Brasília and Fortaleza, and now Manaus, are departure points abroad that favor access for Customers from the Midwest, Northeast and North, as well as engers from the most diverse parts of Brazil. It is quick and easy, for example, to board Santos Dumont (SDU), Congonhas (CGH) or Florianópolis (FLN) to Brasília, and then to the USA, to complete the trip to Florida with GOL on the same day.
The opening event of the Manaus-Miami route, unprecedented for GOL, took place at Manaus International Airport (MAO). The beginning took place at 9 am, close to the start time of check-in, with a folkloric presentation offered by the State Tourism Company of Amazonas (Amazonastur). The celebration was attended by GOL's executive, Luiz Teixeira, Commercial Manager for International Markets, Karen Strougo, CEO of VINCI Airports for Amazônia Airports, and Isadora Alfaia, vice-president of Amazonastur.
Only 5 hours and 55 minutes of flight separates Manaus from Miami. The outbound flight G3 7638 left the capital of Amazonas at 12:55 pm today (17) and is expected to land at 17:50 pm in Miami (local time). G3 7639, in the opposite direction, will leave Florida at 19:00 pm this Saturday, landing in Manaus at 0:55 am on Sunday. Customers in Manaus received, as a gift, for the inauguration of the route, an orange leather luggage tag, from GOL, and cupcakes from VINCI Airports.
Miami is the main hub in the US for flights from Latin America. From that point on, GOL Customers from Amazonas will have quick connection opportunities to destinations such as Orlando, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco, Boston, Washington, Las Vegas, Houston and Atlanta, among others, in flights operated by American Airlines, a company with which GOL maintains an alliance.
MAX: more efficient and sustainable flights
GOL's flights between Manaus and Miami are operated with the latest generation aircraft Boeing 737 MAX 8, which, in international configuration, has capacity for 176 engers. For GOL, the MAX represents an increase in productivity and greater cost efficiency, being one of its pillars towards more sustainable aviation.
These aircraft are a fundamental part of GOL's strategy for growth, consistency and proximity, including the Company's goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, as they offer 15% fuel savings, 16% less carbon emissions, 40% less noise and greater range compared to the Boeing 737 NG.
