Following the agenda with the airlines in São Paulo, Governor Fátima Bezerra and Secretary of Tourism Ana Maria da Costa met with GOL Linhas Aéreas.
The meeting took place this Wednesday (09th) at the company's headquarters, where they received from GOL's Sales and Marketing vice-president, Eduardo Bernardes and from Institutional Relations and International Development manager, Ciro Camargo, a proposal to increase the Rio Grande do Norte air network with new direct flights connecting the RN to important outbound markets in the southeast and south regions, to be implemented in the first semester.
A GOL operates with flights connecting Governador Aluízio Alves International Airport to six other airports (Guarulhos, Brasília, Rio Galeão, Salvador, Congonhas and Confins), and is responsible for 42% of the market in Rio Grande do Norte.
“Tourism is one of the pillars of our economy, it is one of the industries that most generates jobs and income, which is why it is treated with the relevance required by our government. I make a point of participating in meetings with companies to charge more flight offers and competitive prices for the RN. I leave confident with the news that we will soon have news”, celebrated Governor Fátima Bezerra.
For the Secretary of State for Tourism, Aninha Costa, visits to companies are fundamental. “The permanent dialogue with airlines is one of the strategies of the Government of the State of RN to promote tourism, seeking to expand our connectivity and competitiveness, especially at a time when national tourism is the main responsible for the flow of tourists”He explained.

Data from the Rio Grande do Norte – Sírio Tourist Intelligence System show that in 2021 the RN had 13.586 flights and transported 1,78 million engers.
As of the second half, the acceleration of vaccination resulted in a favorable scenario for the resumption of travel. There was a significant increase in the supply and demand for flights, with numbers approaching the level of 2019 (pre-pandemic). As of September 2021, the recovery of the air network has always been around 90%.
The average occupancy of flights in 2021 was 84%. The good occupancies of aircraft with historic numbers mean, response to the promotion actions carried out by SETUR and Emprotur throughout 2021, with intensification from the second half.
