A GOL Linhas Aéreas, on the international rise, has been resuming its flights abroad since November 2021, after the suspension of these operations in March 2020 due to the pandemic. Montevideo (MVD), one of the Company's main destinations in South America, was the first international route resumed, in November 2021.
Today, there are 10 direct weekly operations between Guarulhos airport and the Uruguayan capital. As of October 1st, there will be a total of 10 weekly flights from Montevideo to Brazil. With the strategy of moving the northeastern tourist market even further, GOL resumes its Salvador (SSA) – Montevideo (MVD) route for the 14 summer season, starting in January.
The only route departing from the Northeast (Salvador) to Montevideo will start on January 7th, and both the outward and return flights will take place on weekends. G3 7036 is the flight number that departs from the capital of Bahia at 19:30 pm on Saturday and arrives in the Uruguayan city at 0:05 am the following day. Flight G3 7037 leaves Montevideo at 01:00 am on Sunday and lands in Salvador at 05:10 am.
Uruguay is a destination close to Brazil, with attractions ranging from nature and cultural traditions to wines and meats, in addition to being easily accessible, as Brazilians do not need to present their port to enter the country – just the RG. Montevideo, the capital, is still a convenient starting point for nearby cities that are popular with tourists: Punta del Este and Colonia del Sacramento.
“We had already attracted charter flights from Uruguay to Salvador, but the goal was the regular flight, which is now being achieved by GOL's determination. The governments of Bahia and Uruguay held talks with the Company for the conquest of the Montevideo-Salvador line, an exclusivity in the Northeast. The State's work to expand Bahia's international air network will continue, in the prospect of new GOL flights to destinations in Bahia”, declared the Secretary of Tourism of Bahia, Maurício Bacelar.
GOL's flights between Salvador and Montevideo will be operated with the modern Boeing 737-800 aircraft, which, in international configuration, has capacity for 176 engers.
Northeast Connection – South America
Demonstrating the recovery of international traffic and the expansion of the range of options for engers in the Northeast, the Company returned on August 20th with international flights departing from Fortaleza to Buenos Aires, and on December 3rd, flights departing from Recife resumed. , Salvador, Maceió, Natal and João Pessoa (this one with a stopover in Natal) to the Argentine city. As of December, the offer of flights to Florida will be decentralized to the Northeast, facilitating access to the US from another Brazilian region: on 3/12, Fortaleza (FOR) will have weekly departures to Miami.
