GOL sets up a flight hub in Bahia, with operations to Lençóis, Paulo Afonso and Teixeira de Freitas

A GOL Linhas Aéreas will set up a Flight Distribution Center in Bahia and by 2023 should reach a greater offer of international flights per week, and 50 daily national flights departing from Bahian airports, in addition to connections abroad through its international partners, departing from Bahian airports.

The company's investment plan is the subject of a cooperation agreement signed with the State Government, through the Secretariat of Tourism (Setur-BA).

Among the new domestic destinations departing from Salvador, to be implemented later this year, are: Lençóis, Paulo Afonso and Teixeira de Freitas.

The agreement establishes a timetable in which the GOL undertakes to progressively expand its offer of flights from Bahia.

According to Setur-BA, the company's investment represents, in practice, a new impetus for the recovery process in the Bahian economy, involving not only the generation of jobs and income with the operation of new maintenance park, such as the expansion of the flow of national and foreign visitors due to the new flight connections.

The Company's agreement with the State also provides for tax incentives and ICMS exemption in operations and provision of services related to the implementation of the Flight Distribution Center, involving the importation of aircraft, parts, external or internal acquisitions of goods, machines, equipment, components aeronautical equipment, tools, metallic structures and installations and operations for the acquisition of aviation kerosene.

The decree released in the official gazette today (05/08) says: "Deals with exemption from the Tax on Operations Related to the Circulation of Goods and on Interstate and Intermunicipal Transportation and Communication Services - ICMS in operations and benefits related to the construction, installation and operation of the International Flight Connection Center – HUB, in International Airport located in the State of Bahia, and makes other arrangements.
