Government finalizes investment of R$ 9,6 million in Coxim and Bonito Airports (MS)

Investments by the Federal Government in regional aviation resulted in several improvements at the airports of Coxim and Bonito, in Mato Grosso do Sul.

The terminals in both cities, with a strong focus on ecotourism, will now have revamped landing and taxiways and improved security systems.

In all, R$ 9,6 million were invested – 70% with resources from the Union through the National Civil Aviation Fund (Fnac) and 30% from the state government.

After receiving an investment of approximately R$ 5.538.653,06, the Bonito Airport, istered by the government of Mato Grosso do Sul, had resurfacing on the runway and takeoff (PPD), taxiway and aircraft patio, these paving works were delivered in 2019, as well as investments in the renovation and expansion of the Fire Fighting Section ( SCI), and acquisition and implementation of the Precision Approach Path (Papi), these works recently concluded.

“The Federal Government has made substantial investments especially in regional aviation. And these investments in Bonito and Coxim are allowing us to have thriving aviation in this prosperous ecotourism region. Let's put Brazilians to fly and move forward providing infrastructure for this continental country”, said the executive secretary of the Ministry of Infrastructure, Marcelo Sampaio, who accompanied the deliveries this Monday (6).

In Coxim, a city located in the north of Mato Grosso do Sul, the airport is managed by the local city hall. Around BRL 4.111.690,54 were invested in the resurfacing work on the landing and takeoff runway, taxiway and aircraft apron, and implementation of the operational fence.
