This Wednesday (18), the Government of Ceará closed an agreement with GOL Linhas Aéreas that will guarantee regional flights to eight municipalities in Ceará.
As of February 1st, the Capital will be linked to Sobral, São Benedito, Tauá, Crateús, Iguatu and Aracati, weekly, and will gain three daily flights to Jericoacoara and two daily flights to Juazeiro do Norte. The company will also offer three daily flights to Natal (RN).
“For us, this achievement is very important because we are going to internalize the connectivity of our hub in Fortaleza to eight cities in Ceará. We will be able to buy a ticket from Crateús to Paris, for example. Expanding possibilities for people from Ceará. GOL has been a great partner of the State, which has grown ahead of Brazil in tourism. The flights will also move the economy, generating more jobs and income for people from Ceará”, highlights Governor Camilo Santana.
There will be a total of 48 weekly flights in Ceará, distributed in Juazeiro do Norte (2 daily flights), Jericoacoara (3 daily flights), Sobral (3 weekly), São Benedito (2 weekly), Tauá (2 weekly), Crateús (2 weekly ), Iguatu (2 weeks) and Aracati (2 weeks).
The flights will be operated by Two Flex Grand Caravan aircraft, which have capacity for nine engers. The exception is the flights to Juazeiro do Norte, which will be operated with ATR 72 aircraft, from Voe, for 72 engers.
Cláudio Borges, director of Institutional Relations at GOL, explains that all operations are the responsibility of the company, which will sell tickets.
“This is what we call capacity buying. People from Ceará will be able to leave Iguatu for Tokyo, taking advantage of the connections at the Air /KLM and GOL hub. It is a big step in consolidating the hub, our work together, as we know the importance that tourism has in the growth of the state. With this new phase, we are going to give access to air transport to several people who did not have this possibility ", said the director of GOL, during a conference call with governor Camilo Santana and secretary Arialdo Pinho.
