Government presents project to boost tourism in the Amazon Region

The Ministry of Tourism presented this week a project to structure the tourist region of Baixo Tapajós, located in Pará.

The proposal is to carry out actions to attract investments, partnerships and concessions to the private sector for some of the route's attractions to boost local tourism and be the gateway to tourism in the Amazon.

In addition to Alter do Chão, the territory has other attractions, such as the Enchanted Forest, Belterra – which is preparing to receive the first Amazonian Science Museum (MuCA) – and Vila Americana, one of the most important points for tourism in experience in Brazil.

During the presentation of the project to the other MTur secretariats, the National Secretary for Investment Attraction, Partnerships and Concessions, Lucas Fiuza, highlighted the great tourist potential of the region and invited the different areas of the Pasta to build an integrated project.

“The place has a unique combination of attractions: sun, beach, ecology, gastronomy, culture, sport and bioeconomy to attract foreign and national tourists. We present this project so that everyone can see how they can contribute respectively to their area of ​​expertise”, scored.

Among the proposals is the structuring of the Maestro Wilson Fonseca airport, so that it can receive international flights; the possibility of installing a cruise ship terminal; and improve access between attractions and internet connection.

In addition, Pasta intends to map the tourist market, encourage the development of Vila Americana and seek investors for the region. The expectation is that, soon, a team from the Bolsonaro government will carry out a new technical visit to the site.

The development of the project also relies on actions carried out by MuCA to include children and young people living in the region through activities to promote entrepreneurial education in the bioeconomy through Tourism, Productive Chains and Science.

In addition to Tourism and Culture (Iphan and Ibram), the project will involve other federal agencies, such as the Ministries of Infrastructure, the Environment, Science and Technology, the Ministry of Women, Family and Human Rights, and the BNDES.

Altogether, the state of Pará attracts around 1 million tourists per year, who spend around R$ 720 million in the state, generating jobs and income for the population.
