Gulfstream G700 receives FAA certification

Gulfstream G700 receives FAA certification

The Federal Aviation istration (FAA) said Friday it has certified Gulfstream's G700 business aircraft, driving new competition at the top of the luxury jet market.

The process for certifying new aircraft in the United States has come under greater scrutiny following crashes involving Boeing in October 2018 and March 2019. Also, on January 5, one of the auxiliary emergency doors came loose during a flight operated by Alaska Airlines , which served as a connection between Portland (Oregon) and Ontario (California). Following the event, the FAA immediately suspended the operation of 171 Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft.

In 2019, Gulfstream President Mark Burns said he believed the FAA would seek more information during certification of the G700. Now, in 2024, the company celebrates achieving the certificate.

Gulfstream said the G700 will have shorter takeoff and landing distances than originally anticipated: “We have successfully completed the most rigorous certification program in the company’s history with the G700”, said Burns.
