Robinson R66 aircraft from Helisul reinforce aerial surveillance in Paraná

The aviation company Helisul delivered to the government of Paraná two model Robinson R66 helicopters, manufactured in the United States. The aircraft leased by the government were specially modified in Brazil by the company from Paraná to meet the Falcão project, which provides for greater agility in police actions in all regions of the state.

Last Friday (18), in a symbolic ceremony with the presence of the two aircraft, held at Palácio Iguaçu, in Curitiba, Helisul's executive superintendent, Humberto Biesuz, presented Governor Carlos Massa Ratinho Junior with a model of the helicopter.

“These are the first helicopters in South America prepared specifically for police work, with high technology on board. Today, we can say that we have the most equipped security forces in Brazil”, said the governor.

“The Falcão Project constitutes a relevant milestone of technological leadership applied to police intelligence in Brazil, offering a highly efficient platform in the fight against crime, developed based on world-renowned experiences of operational intelligence. The choice of the Robinson R66 model was based on the fact that it is a low-cost aircraft, but with state-of-the-art technology, integrated into the aircraft by Helisul, maximizing the quality and delivery of air to Public Safety agencies in Paraná . The system provides a detailed view of day or night events with high quality and definition and their transmission in real time to the BPMOA command and control centers”, explains Humberto Biesuz.

This project was conceived and developed to become a model of surveillance and police intelligence. For this, the two aircraft, Falcão 12 and Falcão 13, have a front adapted for operation with NVG (night vision goggles), as well as all avionics, equipment, cabin and external lights compatible with NVG.

Also installed was the MX-10 system, which is designed to be mounted on airplanes, helicopters and other unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). It provides high-resolution, detailed thermal imaging to aid in surveillance operations, search and rescue, target reconnaissance, border control, police radio patrolling and other applications, with HD resolution infrared camera, continuous optical zoom with field of view minimum that allows identifying NATO7 standard targets at 4,5 km, with a maximum range of up to 15 km (depending on atmospheric conditions and the size of the object).

With great operational capacity, the aircraft is manned by a pilot, co-pilot and an operator. It is a police intelligence platform developed for incident management. Recently, the helicopter was used experimentally and in of the search operation for the single-engine plane that crashed in the Serra do Mar in Paraná, at the beginning of last July.

One of the helicopters will be based in Curitiba. The other will be taken to Cascavel, serving mainly the municipalities in the West and Triple Frontier regions.
