How Lufthansa is turning an Airbus A350 into a private jet

Lufthansa Technik is ready to build the first custom cabin on board an Airbus A350-900. While tuning is due to start in April 2020, Lufthansa Technik says work preparations have already started at its workshops in Hamburg, .

Their customer, the German government, is spending €1,2 billion on three new A350-900s with custom cabins and defense systems to replace their aging A340s.

This will be the first A350 to be equipped for a head of state by Lufthansa Technik.

The company avoids revealing more details about the interior of the aircraft, and describes that the requirements vary according to the customer.

What they said is that the A350 will have an office space and a spacious conference area. It is also planned to have a multifunctional lounge area and generous seating for entourage travel.

Although the specific number is not disclosed, Lufthansa Technik points out that the aircraft's kitchen and bathrooms about 150 guests, but with all this luxury, the plane will hardly have 150 engers on board.

Not only that, but 's A350 will be additionally equipped with customized defense features as per its intended purpose.

The government has budgeted around €229 million for the installation of an anti-missile defense system. It will also have its own stock of spare parts, allowing for repairs anywhere in the world.

Lufthansa Technik has already developed several cabin concepts for the A350XWB and has supplied interiors for more than 45 large aircraft to date. They range from spacious offices to luxurious guest rooms and conference facilities.
