IACIT presents 100% national air navigation solutions during Ridex/BID Brasil

HIGH

During Ridex/BID Brazil Exhibition, which takes place from June 27th to 29th, at Píer Mauá, Rio de Janeiro (RJ), IACIT will highlight some solutions in the area of air navigation and meteorology, which contribute to greater safety in the sector.

Among the company's exclusivities is the DME 0200, certified by the Air Space Control Institute (ICEA) and which is in operation in 3 locations in Brazil. The company is producing another 33 pieces of equipment for the FAB (Brazilian Air Force), which will be installed in the eastern part of the country, guaranteeing coverage of part of the national territory for DME/DME navigation.

The DME (Distance Measuring Equipment) is an air navigation equipment that allows you to determine the distance of an aircraft in relation to a precisely located point on the ground.

GBAS

Member of the IGWG (International GBAS Working Group) that debates the adoption of the GBAS (Ground Based Augmentation System) as an air navigation system, IACIT has been developing such technology.

IACIT's GBAS is an important navigation tool, which ensures greater safety when approaching aircraft using GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite Systems) information. The GBAS ground subsystem is composed of Distance Reference Stations (RRS), VHF Data Broadcast Station (VDB), Integrity Monitoring Station (IMS) and Base Processing Station (PBS). The integration of the entire system guarantees a precision approach of the aircraft.

“The GBAS is a solution that demands studies of its applicability, mainly in the range of the magnetic equator, where the disturbance in the ionosphere can cause interference in the system. For this reason, our company has been actively participating in debates so that new technologies and discoveries are shared with other players and entities worldwide”, highlights the president of IACIT, Luiz Teixeira.

Still in the area of for navigation and air traffic control, IACIT developed two pieces of software to operate with the Meteorology Network of the Air Force Command, ing air traffic operators with weather forecasts, ensuring greater safety for air traffic.

One of the solutions, NeuralCAST, uses artificial neural networks (ANN) trained to generate information on meteorological trends of ceiling, visibility, occurrence of gusts, wind speed and direction, for a horizon of up to 3 hours, using information from stations of the airfield itself.

RouteCAST, on the other hand, identifies the volume or area of the airspace under the effect of meteorological formations that may pose a risk to aircraft en route, allowing monitoring of severe events and predicting their displacement for a projection of up to 30 minutes. The system uses meteorological radars and atmospheric electrical discharge sensors as a data source.

Both solutions apply Performance Based Navigation (PBN) concepts and are in operation in Brazil.
