Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and Aviatic MRO UAB signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the establishment of an aircraft maintenance center (MRO – maintenance, repair and overhaul) at Siauliai Airport, Lithuania.
Aircraft maintenance and overhaul services will be carried out at the site, as well as the conversion of Boeing 737NG enger planes to freighter configuration, in addition to personnel training, certification and licensing.
The centre, dubbed Aviatic MRO, will be managed by Aviatic which will also interaction with Lithuanian regulators, including planning and infrastructure development.
The site is expected to open in 2022 in an innovative hangar that will allow all MRO tasks to be carried out immediately after opening.
