Considered Iceland's flagship airline and based at Reykjavík Airport, Icelandair revealed last Friday (28) its new livery (visual identity) of the airline.
A Boeing 737 MAX 8 registration TF-ICE was the 'flagship' with the details of the new painting. It is also possible to notice that the previously predominant yellow in the engines and tail has given way to a blue hue.
In addition, the new Icelandair livery will feature 5 different tail colors (boreal blue, magenta, sky blue, yellow and green), representing the different phenomena of Icelandic nature.
Interestingly, the new colors seek to honor the northern lights present in the country, in addition to the colors of the biomes present in the Nordic country,
With the new color palette, Icelandair follows the new trend with the 'Eurowhite' pattern, where the fuselage is generally predominantly white, leaving the role of contrast in the livery to the tail and engines.
Although many enthusiasts and aviation fans do not approve of this paint pattern, minimalist paintwork is a new trend for airlines around the world, which are looking to cut costs, especially in the operating costs of an aircraft.
It may sound crazy, but a painting that has many different colors can mean greater weight for the aircraft, and therefore, greater fuel consumption, a detail that airlines are aware of.
