With just under two months left for the release of Top Gun: Maverick, Paramount Pictures released today (29) a new trailer for the most anticipated film by aviation fans in 2022.
The video gives more details on the feature film's plot and features the first look at Val Kilmer's character, Tom 'Iceman' Kazansky, in the new film, as well as a quick appearance of the Sukhoi Su-57, a Russian 5th Generation fighter.
With release scheduled for May 26 in Brazil, Top Gun: Maverick is the sequel to Top Gun: Aces Indomitable, blockbuster from 1986.
In the new film, Pete 'Maverick' Mitchell (Tom Cruise) is a test pilot with the rank of Colonel (Captain in the US Navy), having refused all promotions in his career that eventually would not allow him to fly.
In the most recent trailer, Cyclone (Jon Hamn) informs that Maverick was recruited by his old rival, Iceman, now an iral with the position of commander of the Pacific Fleet.

Maverick must train a select group of F/A-18 Super Hornet pilots for a dangerous mission. One such pilot is Bradley 'Rooster' Bradshaw, son of Nick 'Goose' Bradshaw, Maverick's best friend and radar operator, who died in the 1986 film.
Another detail stands out in the trailer: the Su-57. At 02:08 it is possible to see the Russian stealth fighter maneuvering against the plane of the “good guys”, which is nothing more than an F-14 Tomcat, an aircraft that was the protagonist of the classic film.
In another “fan service”, the scene shows Rooster in the back seat of the Tomcat, formerly occupied by his father.
It was already certain that the Grumman supersonic would appear in the film, but not facing an aircraft as advanced as the Felon, as the Sukhoi is designated by NATO.
As the model was retired from service with the US Navy in 2006, the producer “borrowed” the F-14A Tomcat registration number 159631, which was preserved at the San Diego Aerospace Museum. It is believed that the model will appear in the film with the enemy faction, due to the stickers applied to the promotional toy and to the plane used in the filming.
