The Institute for Industrial Development and Coordination (IFI) has reached another significant milestone in the process of receiving Gripen E fighters for the Brazilian Air Force (FAB). On October 08, the director of IFI, Air Force Colonel Marcelo Zawadzki, issued the Initial Airworthiness Certificate (CAI) for the F-10 Gripen aircraft, registration 39, which will be part of the fleet of the First Air Defense Group (4108º GDA), based in Anápolis (GO).
The process of receiving Gripen fighters involves two phases within the scope of the ADP-GP (Aircraft Delivery Procedure – Gripen BR). The first of these, the Provisional Phase, was carried out in the city of Linköping, Sweden, under the supervision of the Government Representative for Quality Assurance (RGGQ) of the IFI, in partnership with the team from the SAAB Monitoring and Control Group (GAC-SAAB). The Final Phase took place in Brazil, coordinated by the Management Systems Certification Subdivision (CSG), with the objective of carrying out an inspection that would guarantee the physical and documentary conformity of the fighter in relation to the certified Type Design, enabling the issuance of the CAI.
The inspection team was composed of Aircraft Mechanics Specialist (BMA) Sub-Officer Sidney José Silva Costa and Electronics Specialist Sergeant (BET) Bruno Felipe Americo Commodo, under the management of the CSG Chief, Major Aviator Elkeaer Sezalpino Mioto. The planning and execution of this activity were carried out by the CSG Initial Airworthiness Certification sector, led by Aircraft Specialist Captain (ANV) Leandro Guimarães Ribeiro, in collaboration with the GAC, the Combat Aircraft Program Coordinating Committee (COPAC) and the 1st GDA.
“The inspection for issuing the CAI was carried out between October 04th and 09th, ensuring that the transfer of the aircraft was not impacted. After a complete verification of the documents and physical inspection, the F-10 Gripen E fighter was approved, receiving Certificate No. 39, valid for one year, issued by the IFI. With this certification, the IFI reaffirms its commitment to excellence in the quality and operational safety of the Brazilian Air Force aircraft”, stated the Chief of the CSG, Major Aviator Elkeaer.
The integrated work ensured that the deadlines established by the Preparation Command (COMPREP) were met, allowing the participation of the Gripen E fleet in the Cruzeiro do Sul Exercise – CRUZEX 2024. FAB 4108 has already arrived at Natal Air Base (BANT), in Parnamirim (RN), where it will participate in the Exercise, which will bring together 16 countries and more than 50 aircraft.
