Images: Airbus A330 and Boeing 777 jets land in Manaus in special charter

O Eduardo Gomes International Airport, serving Manaus, received a pair of chartered widebody jets on Wednesday (19). An Airbus A330 and a Boeing 777, both coming from the USA, landed in the capital of Amazonas, where they stayed for a few hours on Manaus soil and moved about 1000 engers.

The first aircraft to land was the 777-200 (N819AX) of Omni Air International. With the capacity to receive about 300 engers, the long-range twin-engine aircraft came from Miami under flight registration OY333, touching the Manaus runway at 13:52 pm (local time). The aircraft took off back to Miami at 17:37 pm.

Two hours after the arrival of the 777, it was the turn of an Airbus A330-200 (N819CA) from National Airlines, with capacity for 285 engers. Also coming from Miami, with flight registration N8444, the aircraft landed in Manaus at 15:50 pm, leaving the country at 18:34 pm. 

According to information from spotters Rafael Dinelli (rdinelli.spotting) and Rodrigo Dantas (@aviationamazonia), the aircraft both brought and picked up tourists who were in and coming to Manaus for the 2022 and 2023 cruise season. About 1000 people were transported by the chartered planes, according to the photographers.

 

Special Access

To the rare presence of the aircraft, a group of approximately 15 spotters had special access granted by vinci airports brazil. The , who took control of the Manaus airport terminal in 2022, opened part of the old terrace for aircraft photographers. The location, a kind of terminal balcony, had been deactivated since the 2000s and was reopened to spotters for the occasion.
