IMAGES: family is rescued by FAB helicopter during floods in RS

Since last Monday (28), Rio Grande do Sul has been punished by heavy rains, which have already left nine dead and 21 missing according to the State Civil Defense. On Tuesday (30), an entire family was rescued by a helicopter from Brazilian air force (FAB), which s search and rescue actions in the region.

In a note, the FAB says that the three people, who have not yet been identified, were stranded “in a house at risk of collapsing (water entering the house), which was lifted and transported from the Candelária region to Santa Cruz.”

The images released by the Aeronautics Command this Wednesday (01) show the rescue of the family from Rio Grande do Sul. Father, mother and daughter were lifted by a H-60L Black Hawk helicopter of the Pantera Squadron (5th/8th GAv). The Santa Maria Air Base unit employs two helicopters in rescue actions.

In addition to the FAB, the Brazilian Army is also working to the population of Rio Grande do Sul. The São Paulo Military Police sent one of its Águia helicopters and the Federal Government must reinforce actions following appeals from Governor Eduardo Leite, who publicly requested “all possible air ”.
