In real time: the 1st FAB flight takes off with Brazilians rescued from Israel

On a humanitarian mission to repatriate Brazilians in Israel and the Gaza Strip, the first Brazilian Air Force plane took off from Tel Aviv. The aircraft carrying out the first of 16 scheduled flights is an Airbus KC-30 (A330-200), a plane capable of carrying up to 240 engers.

Compliant published on Portal G1, the KC-30 took off from Tel Aviv – Ben Gurion International Airport (TLV) at around 20:12 pm local time (14:12 pm Brasília time). The expectation is that the FAB plane will land in Brasília at around 4 am. 

The list of Brazilians who chose to return to Brazil was not released for security reasons, but according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the list prioritized families with children, people with disabilities and the elderly. 

There is also a plan for a second flight with Brazilians, also operated with the KC-30, however, destined for Galeão airport (GIG), in Rio de Janeiro.

For the special mission, the Brazilian Air Force made six aircraft available for the mission to Israel. The FAB operation is being guided together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Brazilian embassies in the Middle East. 

See the list of planes made available by the FAB for the special mission:

  • 2x Airbus KC-30 (A330-200): can carry up to 230 engers
  • 2x Embraer VC-2: Presidency of the Republic plane with capacity to transport up to 38 engers
  • 2x Embraer KC-390: FAB multi-mission aircraft that can be configured to carry up to 80 engers

  • 2nd flight: operated by Airbus KC-30 with 210 engers, scheduled arrival on October 12th via Galeão. 
  • 3rd flight: operated by Embraer KC-390 with 60 engers on board, the plane will make a stop in Recife (REC), and then continue to Guarulhos airport (GRU) on October 13th.
  • 4th flight: operated by KC-30 (210 engers), destined for Galeão (GIG) on October 13th. 
  • 5th flight: also operated by the Airbus KC-30, with arrival scheduled for October 14th in Rio de Janeiro. 

 

For Brazilians who are in Palestinian territories, there are still no flights organized by the FAB, to the detriment of logistical and security difficulties.
