The Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho, formalized, through ordinance No. 563, of December 19, 2023, published on Thursday (21/12) in the Official Gazette of the Union, the transfer of the concession of the Regional Airport from Sorriso/Adolino Bedin to Infraero, which will be responsible for the istration, operation and exploration of the Mato Grosso terminal.
On Tuesday (19/12), the directors of istration and Operations and Technical Services of Infraero, Aparecido Luiz da Silva and Eduardo Gonzaga da Silva, respectively, participated in the g of the ordinance, who represented the president Rogério Barzellay, the mayor of Sorriso, Ari Lafin, the superintendent of Infraero Operation Management, Paulo Eduardo Cavalcante, among other authorities.
Costa Filho reinforced the importance of airport improvements for growth, development and generation of jobs and income for the local economy. “Infraero, by effectively assuming the governance of the airport, will make it possible to increasingly improve the terminal, in of service, transport, business tourism and leisure tourism”, highlighted the minister.
Until then, Infraero managed and operated the terminal through a contract signed with the Municipality of Sorriso in January 2022. “It is a great pride for Infraero to receive the grant of an airport located in a very important region that needs of a well-managed terminal”, said director Eduardo Gonzaga.
Mayor Ari Lafin highlighted the quality of management carried out by Infraero at Sorriso Airport. “Infraero has been carrying out excellent work in our municipality. It is a company that we recognize has enormous capacity for managing our airport and many other terminals,” he commented.
New grants
Currently, Infraero is undergoing market repositioning, focusing on regional airports. In this context, the Company has, to date, received the concession of five terminals (Mossoró/RN; Vale do Aço, in Santana do Paraíso/MG; Flores, in Manaus/AM, Governador Valadares/MG and Sorriso/MT) and is awaiting the transfer of others by the Ministry of Ports and Airports.
Sorriso Airport
Located about 12 km from the city center, Sorriso Airport has a runway measuring 1.700 m long and 30 m wide. It currently operates commercial flights with daily frequency to Cuiabá Airport (MT), by the company Azul Linhas Aéreas.
