On April 23, the Israel Defense Forces received three more Lockheed Martin F-35 planes, they landed at the Nevatim air base, in Israel. Now Israel has five fighters of this model, since previously (in December) Lockheed delivered two F-35 fighters.
Now the five fighters will participate in training operations, carried out by the “Golden Eagle” Squadron, from Israel. The Israeli Air Force will still receive six more F-35 fighters, derived from an order that already totals 50 F-35 aircraft.
In November, the Israeli government approved an agreement to acquire 17 F-35 fighter jets, based on the last batch of purchases. Israel still plans to buy more F-35 aircraft, thus increasing the original contract's 50 orders, but the IDF is also considering a second squadron of Boeing F-15s with technological advancements.
