ITA Airways has released the procedures for painting the first Airbus A350XWB that will make up its fleet. The aircraft that should operate with registration F-WZFT will be delivered in the next quarter, between April and May.
“The first flagship of our fleet could only be dedicated to a great Azzurri leader”, said the company in the description of its video, citing the name of the painting “azzurro”, relating it to the shimmering Celeste Blue color.

The aircraft has the construction number MSN270 and was manufactured in 2019 and was supposed to be part of the Hong Kong Airlines fleet. However, the company denied delivery during the pandemic and the plane became a “whitejet”, name given to an aircraft that was produced, but not destined for a customer.
This A350XWB is on ITA Airways' order list for four aircraft of this model. the order contract was signed with the aircraft leasing company ALAFCO, from Kuwait. The A350 aircraft for ITA Airways will be delivered in the second and third quarters of this year.
Without Alitalia's Boeing 777, ITA is unable to launch routes with very long flight times, something that will be possible with the A350. This plane should soon make flights between Rome and Buenos Aires, for example, and also to Brazil.
In the coming years, ITA plans to receive new A220 (15 planes), A320neo (11 planes) and A330neo (5 planes), in addition to the Airbus A350 (8 planes in total). The new company will replace all 53 old planes coming from Alitalia.
