Italian squadron Frecce Tricolori turns 60

The Italian squadron, Frecce Tricolori, was created on March 1, 1961, thus completing its 60th anniversary yesterday. The Italian air force team is based at the 313° Gruppo Addestramento Acrobatico (Acrobatic Training Squadron) at Rivolto Air Base in northeastern Italy.

Following the cheerful, colorful and numerous tradition of the country, the highlight of the team's exhibitions are the colors and the number of planes, in all there are 10 aircraft flying, which is the title of the largest demonstration team in the world.

Currently they use the also Italian, Aeromacchi MB-339A PAN, the light Italian-made single-engine jet in its fuselage a color reminiscent of the flag of the European country.

In the past the team has used the Canadair F-86E and the Fiat G. 91 PAN. The future of the squadron will be the Italian Alenia Aermacchi M-345 HET jets, maintaining the tradition of flying domestically produced aircraft.
