The travel search engine Viajala recently carried out a comparative study between the prices of airline tickets practiced by the newest Brazilian airline, to Itapemirim.
The study shows a comparison with other national airlines, such as Azul, Gol and Latam, and there is a difference of up to 65% in prices for the new company.
Studies by Viajala pointed out that the new company's prices may be up to 29% to 65% lower, compared to the three competitors. It is worth mentioning that this study was carried out on the opening day of sales, May 21st, and that due to fluctuations and the new competitor, prices may now be lower.
The survey took into the cheapest option presented by each company and the average prices practiced throughout the month of July, considered high season.
“ITA is practicing, for the time being, the same price on all days of July on the routes we analyzed”, explained Chevallier. “As such, it is more difficult for it to present the lowest absolute price, since it does not fluctuate, but stability guarantees this lower average price.”

Companies like Itapemirim seek to cover space left by the bankruptcy of Avianca
Another national airline, the low cost Nella Airlines, focused on the regional market and with a strong presence in the Northeast, should also fly later this year. The company's proposal is to reduce the prices of tickets purchased at the last minute by up to 40%.
“Despite the timing being delicate, the news of new national airlines should be celebrated by Brazilian travelers and gives hope for cheaper travel when all this is over”, points out the Viajala executive. Since Avianca's bankruptcy in the first half of 2019, competitiveness on several routes has dropped considerably, increasing average ticket prices.
At the time, Viajala carried out a survey to diagnose the increase in the price of airline tickets, analyzing a sample of 100 searches on 100 national routes. The conclusion was that 85% of the routes showed an average price increase as soon as Avianca's bankruptcy was announced. Tickets on the analyzed routes were 11% to 218% more expensive. In 22% of the cases, the increase was more than 100% in the practiced value.
“While other countries have more national airlines — Colombia, for example, has seven, including low costs — Brazil had, so far, only three in operation, and the entry of new companies should make the market more competitive in the post -crisis", concludes the Viajala executive.
