Jericoacoara Airport

As of December 1st, Jericoacoara/Comandante Ariston Pessoa Regional Airport will have 19 new frequencies, operated by airlines Latam and Voe. According to the manager of Airport Programs and Operations at the Public Works Superintendence (SOP), Fábio de Faria, the equipment will receive flights from Brasília, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Parnaíba (PI) and Fortaleza, bringing a increase of four times the number of flights in November, from 44 to 176 in December.

This increase is a reflection of the start of the high season and the start of operations by new companies in Jeri. Currently, the airport already has ten weekly flights, with flows between Ceará, São Paulo and Minas Gerais operated by the companies Azul and Gol. Latam will carry out at least seven weekly frequencies, while Voe will make 12.

“The expectation is that companies will remain operating on a daily basis. In order to meet the increase in this demand, and provide comfort and safety for engers and s, some improvements were carried out, such as engineering works in the apron, which improved the trafficability of aircraft, and the revitalization of the horizontal signaling in that same apron is underway. In addition, civil engineering works for the expansion of the check-in area are planned for the next few weeks, which will make it possible to meet the enormous flow that the equipment will have. This will represent more opportunities and improvements for the entire population of the Region”, emphasizes Fábio de Faria.

From January to October, the movement of engers reached more than 118 thousand, between commercial aviation and executive and small aviation flights, adding all regional airports. Only in Jericoacoara in this period this number reached 109 thousand engers.
