A JetSMART Airlines began selling tickets for routes in the domestic market of Colombia offering flights between Bogotá, Medellín, Cartagena, Pereira and Santa Marta, this Wednesday (24). The start of operations in the Colombian domestic market will be on March 14th.
The airline started to sell seven direct routes: four leaving from Bogotá to Medellín, Cartagena, Pereira and Santa Marta, in addition to two from Medellín to Santa Marta and Cartagena and, finally, from Cartagena to Pereira. The airline plans to carry more than 2 million engers in the first year of domestic operations in Colombia.
JetSMART also has promotional prices for flights departing from Colombia to seven international destinations: departures from Bogotá, Medellín and Cali to Santiago, Chile; from Cali to Antofagasta, also in Chile; and from Medellín, Cartagena and Cúcuta to Lima, Peru. With these offers, the airline becomes an alternative for low-cost travel between the main cities in Colombia, both to national and international destinations. The company also offers connecting flights to Buenos Aires, Argentina; Cusco and Arequipa, in Peru, Concepción, in Chile, among others.
JetSMART Airlines CEO Estuardo Ortiz said: “Today we are making history in Colombia, with the start of sales of our domestic flights in the country. Our Ultra Low Cost model is proven in the region, which has allowed us to fly more than 25 million people SMART at ultra-low prices on new aircraft. We see enormous potential in Colombia to bring low-fare air travel to all Colombians, as well as connect them with international destinations to promote tourism development and greater connectivity. The ultra-low-cost model is back in Colombia.”
JetSMART's commitment to Colombia is part of the development of an ambitious expansion and growth plan in South America. Currently, JetSMART operates more than 20 international routes in eight countries and 50 domestic routes in three countries: Chile, Argentina and Peru . Today, Colombia enters this list as the fourth country with domestic routes.
