JetSMART receives 32nd aircraft and becomes the Ultra Low Cost with the largest fleet in South America

With the arrival of the Tucano Toco, the tenth aircraft of 2023, the JetSMART Airlines, a low-cost airline, reached another milestone in its mission to bring air travel to all South Americans, announcing the arrival of its 32nd aircraft and consolidating the largest fleet Ultra Low Cost of South America. The company's entire fleet is also wrapped with animals on the tail of each aircraft, a project carried out in order to raise awareness and reinforce among travelers the importance of biodiversity in South America.

With the expansion of the fleet, which currently has 24 Airbus A320 and 8 A321 models, all new, with cutting-edge technology and neo engines that allow lower fuel consumption and emissions, JetSMART continues its expansion with the model Ultra Low Cost, already serving domestic flights in Chile, Argentina and Peru. The company also operates international routes in eight countries in the region and is in the final phase of starting domestic operations in Colombia, scheduled for the first quarter of 2024.

In 2023, the airline was the first South American airline to receive an aircraft directly from the Airbus factory in Mobile, Alabama, the Arara Vermelha, and continued to receive units from Hamburg () and Toulouse () – a return trip to the world that places JetSMART at the forefront of global aviation.

Among the aircraft received in 2023 are the Ñandú (A321neo) – a bird similar to the ostrich; the Red Macaw (A320neo); the Galo da Rocha (A320neo); the Blue-footed Booby (A321neo); the Sun Parakeet (A321neo); the Huillín (A321neo) – provocax otter; the Golden Lion Tamarin (A320neo) and the Toco Toucan (A320neo), promoting species of South American biodiversity, in alliance with the Temaikèn Foundation for the protection of the Huemul, a deer that inhabits southern Chile, and with Cetacean Conservation Center for the protection of whales, whose objective is the preservation of continental fauna.

In the 7 years since its founding, JetSMART Airlines' growth has been exponential. This is reflected in 2023, with a growth of 132% compared to 2019, with the year ending with a total of 25 million engers transported since the beginning of its operations. As the low-cost airline with the highest number of total routes (totaling more than 70 routes), JetSMART went from 13 international routes in 2022 to 24 in 2023. In of seats, comparing 2023 with 2022, the airline grew 56%, with an average occupancy of 86,5%.

JetSMART also announced some routes, such as Concepción-Buenos Aires, in Chile, and Córdoba-Asunción, in Paraguay. In addition, operations began for the summer season on the routes from Santiago and Buenos Aires to Florianópolis, as well as on the routes from Lima to Cúcuta and Cartagena, in Colombia, and on the new Lima-Quito and Lima-Guayaquil routes. Frequency increases were also announced from Buenos Aires to Asunción, and from different markets to Foz do Iguaçu, Rio de Janeiro and Medellín, among others.
