A JetSMART resumes today, December 6, its route between Foz de Iguaçu, in Paraná, and Santiago, in Chile. With options for two weekly flights, on Thursdays and Sundays, the route now features a great novelty, which is the fact that it is no longer seasonal (as it was launched in 2020) and becomes permanent, throughout the year in the company's network aerial.

In Brazil, flights are carried out at Foz do Iguaçu International Airport (IGU), in Paraná, managed by CCR Aeroportos, using Airbus A320 model aircraft, with capacity for 186 engers.

“Today, JetSMART officially starts operating flights from its route in Foz do Iguaçu, which are the only air connection option between these two important cities in the region, bringing together all South Americans in the new A320 aircraft and, thus, allowing more people to travel and cover long distances on direct flights, safely and on time”, said JetSMART CEO, Estuardo Ortiz.

The CEO added that “thanks to the two international routes that we are going to open this year in Brazil (in Foz de Iguaçu and in Rio de Janeiro) we will have the opportunity to increase the flow of people traveling between Brazil and Chile and, thus, We are getting closer and closer to our goal of transporting 100 million engers by 2028, in addition to generating new opportunities and greater economic development through a positive international relationship for countries”.

“We were very happy with the news that the flight to Santiago will now be permanent. Undoubtedly, this will strengthen our destiny, generate development and income; and it will also encourage residents of the region to go to Chile. It is excellent news”, said the mayor of Foz do Iguaçu, Chico Brasileiro.

JetSMART currently has 14 international routes in seven countries in South America: Chile, Argentina, Peru, Colombia, Brazil, Uruguay and Paraguay, in addition to offering 72 domestic routes throughout the region.

The ultra-low-cost airline of the Indigo Partners group has confirmed that it will close 2022 with a regional fleet of 23 aircraft, including its Airbus A320 and A321 with CEO and NEO technology and Pratt & Whitney GTF engines. All aircraft added to the fleet in 2022 save 25% on fuel.

This improvement, added to the new wingtips (Sharklet), the new cabin configuration and the use of the lightest seats on the market, developed with materials reused from other industries, allow for a reduction in emissions by more than 25% per seat. This is equivalent to stopping the emission of more than 12.000 tons of CO2 per plane per year, that is, the equivalent of what 200.000 trees absorb over a period of 10 years.
